Sino-French War broke out in 1884, when French fleet attacked Mawei and Keelung, affecting both sides of the Taiwan Straits and the northern part of Vietnam. Despite the hesitation and timidness of the Qing Dynasty, Chinese people fought valiantly, defeated French army and drove the French navy out of Chinese territory. The battle is regarded as an important part of education of modern Chinese History. The author collected from Europe a lot of dry point printings about the war published in Britain in France. The printings offer a different perspective of the brave deeds of Fujian and Taiwan people in the eye of the westerners.
